Frequently asked questions

Everything most riders ask before booking the Ninja 400 or Ninja 650. Can't find your answer here? Reach out directly — see the contact block at the bottom.

Do you accept licenses from other states or countries?

Yes. Any valid motorcycle license or endorsement (Class M or your country's equivalent) is accepted, as long as you meet the age and experience requirements below. Out-of-state and international riders are welcome — I'll just ask to see and photograph your license and a form of ID at pickup.

What are the age and experience requirements?

Riders must be 21 or older with at least one year of licensed motorcycle riding experience, and hold a valid Class M endorsement or equivalent. Permit-only riders can't be accommodated. Full details are in the Rental Agreement Privacy Policy.

How safe are the motorcycles?

Both bikes are garage-kept and maintained on a regular service schedule — not left to sit between rentals. We do a joint condition check together at pickup and at return, with photos, so there's a clear record on both sides. If anything feels off once you're riding, stop and contact me right away.

Is a protection plan or insurance included in the price?

Every booking requires the renter to Bring Your Own Insurance (BYOI) — there's no separate waiver fee added to your total. Email a copy of your current insurance declarations page to hyanes98@gmail.com at least 24 hours before your scheduled pickup. Once it's verified and approved, you pay a $1,000 refundable deposit at checkout, and your own policy governs your financial responsibility for the rental — there's no fixed deductible or liability cap. See Protection & pricing and the Rental Agreement for the full terms.

What happens if my insurance isn't verified in time?

Email your declarations page as early as possible — at least 24 hours before pickup. I'll manually review it and email you back with an approval or denial. If it's denied, or I haven't gotten back to you by pickup time, pickup can't happen until your insurance is verified and approved; we'll need to reschedule. See Rental Agreement Section 6 for the full terms.

When do I get my deposit back?

Assuming the bike comes back in the condition it left with no damage or other amounts owed, your refundable deposit is returned to your original payment method within 5 business days of the bike being returned and inspected.

How soon do I need to report an accident or damage?

Immediately — please report any accident, damage, mechanical issue, or theft to me within 24 hours, and to local police where applicable, regardless of how minor it seems.

Where do I pick up and return the bike?

Pickup and return are scheduled by appointment at a location we agree on ahead of time. Please return the bike with a full tank — if it comes back short, a refueling charge plus a $25 service fee applies.

What gear do I need to bring?

A DOT-compliant helmet is required — no exceptions. A jacket, gloves, and closed-toe/over-the-ankle boots are strongly recommended. If you need to borrow gear, just ask when you book and I'll try to arrange it.

Can I bring a passenger, or let someone else ride?

No — only the named renter on the booking is authorized to operate the bike, and passengers aren't permitted unless approved in writing ahead of time. This keeps the insurance requirements in Section 6 of the Rental Agreement valid.

What if I need to cancel?

Payment is collected up front through Stripe when you submit a request, but your dates aren't confirmed until I reply by email. If I can't accommodate your dates, you get a full refund. Cancellations you request more than 48 hours before pickup are also fully refunded; inside 48 hours, refunds are at my discretion and may include a partial fee to cover the held availability.

What happens if the bike is returned late?

Late returns are billed at 1.5× the daily rate for each additional day or partial day. If you think you'll run late, message me as early as possible — I'd rather work it out with you than surprise you with a fee.

Where can I actually ride the bike?

Both bikes are set up for ordinary street and canyon riding — that's what your insurance needs to cover. Track days, closed-course riding, stunting, and off-road use are all prohibited and void the rental agreement. Riding outside New Jersey and neighboring states needs prior written approval.
